Riverfront Residence Hotel, Yannawa – Comfortable Stay by the Chao Phraya River
I was looking for a hotel near downtown Bangkok, somewhere comfortable, reasonably priced, and a bit away from the hectic tourist areas.
After browsing several booking platforms and reading through countless reviews, I found a great deal on trip.com for Riverfront Residence in Bang Phongphang, Yan Nawa district, right beside the Chao Phraya River. Booking.com and Agoda had similar deals.
Many reviews mentioned the hotel was outdated, but honestly, I’ve stayed in worse, it’s not as old-fashioned as some make it sound.
First Impressions and Check-In
From the outside, the tall building does look a little aged, but once I stepped inside, things were well-kept. Check-in was smooth and friendly, even though I arrived an hour before the official time. The receptionists were kind and professional, and let me check in right away.
The concierge helped me with my luggage and guided me up to my river‑view Studio Deluxe, which already felt promising.
The Room
The first thing I said when walking in was “Wow!”
The room was much larger than expected and far nicer than the photos online. It featured a nice cozy kitchenette with a microwave, a big fridge, and all the basics like dishes, mugs, glasses, and a kettle with complimentary tea, coffee, and two glass bottles of water each day.

In the center stood a small dining table, and then the king-size bed that I felt comfortable, even if the mattress was very firm, with soft pillows that gave me a great night’s sleep.
The surprise was a small dressing area with a hidden safe, ideal if you’re staying for a few weeks.

The room had all essentials: a TV, free Wi‑Fi, and strong individual air conditioning with a remote control.
The bathroom was simple but clean, with a shower, toilet and provided amenities.

View and Balcony
The balcony was another nice surprise. Spotless clean, no dust or bird mess, and the view over the river was beautiful, especially at sunset. In the evening, you can watch the Bhumibol Bridge lights across the water and the LED-lit glowing KingBridge Tower, such a chill vibe to end the day.
Just note: sometimes you’ll hear loud boats passing by. Not a big deal, but it’s there.
Facilities and Breakfast
The restaurant on the second floor serves breakfast. The selection was basic but decent, some fresh fruit, salad, Thai dishes, an egg station, cereals, and drinks. The few pastries could use improvement; they seemed a bit packaged rather than freshly baked.

You can have your breakfast inside or on the small outdoors terrace with a view and breeze of the river.
On the third floor, there’s a small but well-equipped fitness room with treadmills, dumbbells, and machines.

Nearby is a launderette with coin-operated washers and dryers, a big plus for long-term guests.

Convenience and Surroundings
Right in front of the building are two 7‑Eleven stores, one by the gate and one just inside, super convenient for grabbing snacks or essentials.

The hotel’s neighborhood is quiet, with not much immediately around, but a short walk under the Bhumibol Bridge leads you to a small boat crossing to Bang Kachao peninsula (just 4 baht per person). It’s a beautiful, green escape where you can rent a bicycle and explore Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden สวนสาธารณะและสวนพฤกษชาติ ศรีนครเขื่อนขันธ์ or the Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market ตลาดน้ำบางน้ำผึ้ง, and also visit Mahadevalai Ganesha มหาเทวลัย พระพิฆเนศ temple for example.

Final Thoughts
Overall, Riverfront Hotel is a pleasant and quiet place, great for both short and extended stays. It’s not the most central location in Bangkok, but for the price, room size, and amenities offered, I found it excellent value for money.
A comfortable, underrated spot by the river, I’d definitely stay again.
