I spent a few days in Seoul, South Korea, looking for a small but good hotel not too far from the city center. My choice was Hotel Peyto Samseong, and overall, it was a great experience for a business trip or short stay in the city.

Getting There:
Samseong is a district of Seoul, and it’s located a bit more than 1 hour by car from Incheo International Airport. I first took a taxi from the airport to the hotel, which cost 108,000 KRW (South Korean Won), about 70 euros. When I left, I took an Uber car, which cost 75,000 KRW, about 50 euros.
There are also buses doing the connection, they are cheaper but it takes more time.
Location:
The hotel is in Gangnam district, yes like the Gangnam style song, you can even see the statue, right across from the COEX Mall, making it ideal for business travelers attending events at COEX or exploring the area. It’s also close to Samseong Station (Line 2), providing easy access to the rest of Seoul.
Just cross the road and you will be at the COEX Mall, the biggest Asian underground shopping mall where you can easily get lost. It’s kind of a maze.
On the left side of the hotel’s entrance, there is a small 7-Eleven supermarket, which is very convenient, a McDonald’s at the street corner and lots of restaurants in the streets behind the hotel.
If you have a car, they have a private car park. I didn’t see it, but I heard it was small.
Rooms:
The rooms are modern, compact, and well-designed with a minimalist aesthetic. While not very spacious, they make good use of the available space, and the bed was comfortable.
The bathroom was big enough, with lots of free amenities, a shower and a Japanese style toilet with lots of button and functions From warming up the seat cover up spraying water with different pressures and temperatures to your butt to wash it and drying it.
You may not notice it at first, but there is a small closet or wardrobe just behind the bathroom sliding door. Inside, you will find wardrobes, slippers, a laundry bag, a shoehorn, and so on.
The bed was very comfortable, with lots of pillows. There is a TV that I didn’t use, a small desk and hidden inside, a fridge with 2 daily free small water bottles, a safe, a kettle, and coffee and tea amenities.
Even if I was located on the main road side, the room was very quiet.
It also includes individual air-conditioning and free WiFi inside the room.
Amenities:
The lobby is on the second floor, where the reception is located, and there are:
- A small gym, which is a plus for those who want to stay active.
- A small business center with a meeting room and two iMac with internet access, free to use for the guests.
On the third floor, there is a self-service laundry room with coin-operated washing and drying machines, which is convenient for longer stays.
The breakfast is located on the underground floor at the PO:Z KITCHEN. It’s correct, not exceptional, but it has enough variety to start the day. Be careful, there is no restaurant and no breakfast served on weekends.
On top of that, be sure that breakfast has been included in your room when you checked-in; otherwise, you will have to pay it separately as they ask you to pay your stay at your arrival.
Service:
The staff were friendly and professional and spoke good English. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and they were always helpful with recommendations or directions.
In the lobby, you can find lots of brochures with all the attractions and places to visit in the area.
Value for the money:
For its prime location and clean, modern rooms, Hotel Peyto Samseong offers good value. It’s a solid choice for business travelers or those who want a comfortable stay near COEX without paying luxury hotel prices.
Adding a gym and self-service laundry makes it even more practical for longer stays. I would definitely stay here again for a business trip!
