A Beautiful Location in the Bavarian Hills
Located in the north of Bavaria, Germany, Hotel Zum Wiesengrund is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Heimbuchenthal, surrounded by the gentle hills and wooded valleys of the Spessart region. The hotel is approximately 40 minutes south of Frankfurt Airport, making it a convenient location for both business and leisure travellers looking to enjoy a quieter and more traditional side of Germany.
The hotel itself is a large, traditional Bavarian-style family house, full of charm and character. It is run by the Otto family, who have created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. During my week-long stay in August, the hotel was particularly beautiful, with all the balconies decorated with beautiful red geraniums, adding to the authentic Bavarian atmosphere.
Easy and Friendly Check-In
Check-in was quick, smooth and completely hassle-free. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, and English was spoken without any problem, making communication very easy.
The hotel has a large free car park, which is a real advantage if you are travelling by car. Inside the building, an elevator provides easy access to all three floors of the hotel.
A Comfortable and Quiet Room
My room was located on the second floor. It was a relatively small but very comfortable room, with everything needed for a pleasant stay.
Nothing exceptional or modern in the decoration, old traditional German style.
One bottle of sparkling water every day.
On the second day, the small Haribo candies bag on the bed was a nice touch.
The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was very clean and quiet. There was a small television, a table and chair, as well as a small desk area. However, the highlight of the room was undoubtedly the large balcony.
The balcony was beautifully decorated with flowers and provided a view over the village and the surrounding hills. It even had a comfortable lounge chair where I could sit and relax. In the evening, the balcony offered a particularly beautiful view of the sunset over the hills, a wonderful way to end the day.
Spacious and Immaculately Clean Bathroom
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious compared with the size of the room. It included a hairdryer, a toilet and a large shower, with plenty of space to move around.
Everything was very clean and well maintained. Overall, the room and bathroom were simple rather than luxurious, but they were comfortable, practical and perfectly suited to a relaxing stay.
An Excellent and Generous Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. in the restaurant area near the reception, which is particularly convenient for early risers or business travellers.
The breakfast was one of the highlights of my stay. It was extremely generous, with a wide selection of fresh products including cold meats, hams, cheeses, fresh bread, pastries, fruit juices, yoghurt, cereals and a large choice of jams.
There was also an automatic coffee machine offering several options. In addition, eggs were freshly prepared to order, with a choice of an omelette or fried eggs.
The staff were particularly charming, friendly and attentive, always happy to listen to individual requests and make sure everything was to your satisfaction.
A Delicious Traditional German Restaurant
The hotel’s restaurant offers a selection of traditional German dishes, and I had the opportunity to dine there during my stay.
The food was excellent and very enjoyable, with the kind of traditional German cuisine that fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the hotel and the region. One of the dishes I particularly enjoyed was the Flammkuchen, which was absolutely delicious.
Having a good restaurant directly in the hotel is also very convenient, especially after a day of travelling or exploring thesurrounding area.
A Highly Recommended Bavarian Hotel
Fast and free Wi-Fi was also available in the whole building which was very convenient.
I thoroughly enjoyed my one-week stay at Hotel Zum Wiesengrund. It is not a modern luxury hotel, but that is not what makes it special. Its charm comes from its traditional Bavarian character, its peaceful village location, the beautiful flower-filled balconies, comfortable rooms and, above all, the warm and friendly welcome from the Otto family and their team.
The location is excellent for anyone looking for a quiet stay surrounded by the Bavarian hills while remaining within easy reach of Frankfurt. The free parking, excellent breakfast, good restaurant and English-speaking staff are additional advantages.
I would highly recommend Hotel Zum Wiesengrund for anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful and authentic Bavarian experience in Heimbuchenthal.
