Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon — A Comfortable and Convenient Business Hotel Near CECO
My Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
- Location: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Comfort: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆
- Breakfast: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Value for Money: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
While searching for a hotel close to the CECO Exhibition & Convention Center near Busan, South Korea, I came across the Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon hotel. After comparing several options online, I managed to find a very good deal on Booking.com which included the breakfast, although the hotel is also available on Agoda and Trip.com.
Located in the city of Changwon, the hotel is approximately 27 kilometers from Busan International Airport. Depending on traffic and the time of day, the drive takes around 40 minutes by Uber or taxi, making it a convenient option for both business travelers and visitors attending exhibitions at CECO.
Arrival and Check-In
The first impression upon arriving at the hotel is the spacious and elegant entrance area.

The lobby is large, modern, and welcoming. Check-in was extremely fast, and the reception staff were professional, efficient, and polite. The concierge service was equally attentive and helpful.
Near the elevators in the lobby, there is also a pleasant coffee lounge open during the day until late in the evening. It is a relaxing place where guests can sit comfortably, enjoy drinks, coffee, and cakes, or simply take a break after work.
I stayed in a King Size Room on the eighth floor with a city street view. Although the room itself is not the newest in terms of design, it has been very well maintained and still feels modern, comfortable, and functional.
The Room
The centerpiece of the room is a large and extremely comfortable king-size bed, complemented by excellent pillows and quality bedding. While the room appears quiet at first, sounds from the corridor and neighboring rooms can become noticeable in the evening. During my first two nights, the hotel was exceptionally quiet and I slept very well. However, on the third night, noise insulation proved to be less impressive: I could clearly hear the television from the adjacent room, the clicking of wall switches, and even devices being plugged in and unplugged. As a result, the quality of your sleep will largely depend on how considerate, or noisy, your neighbors are.
Inside the room there is a working desk, plenty of power outlets conveniently located around the room, and an old control system that allows you to operate all the lights directly from the bedside. The flat-screen LCD television includes many channels, and the hotel even provides a printed channel guide available in both Korean and English, which is very convenient for international guests.
Additional room amenities include:
- A safe
- A minibar refrigerator with paid beverages
- Tea and coffee facilities
- Daily complimentary bottled water
- Individually controlled air conditioning with remote control
Although the air-conditioning remote control is entirely written in Korean, the hotel thoughtfully added a small sticker next to it with English translations for every button, making it easy for foreign guests to use.
One thing worth mentioning is that certain bathroom amenities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors are available in the room but are charged separately if used.

Inside the wardrobe, there are two bathrobes, rubber slippers, a shoehorn, a clothing brush, and additional accessories. The windows feature Japanese-style sliding panels, and the curtains are electrically operated via remote control, which adds a modern touch to the room.
The view to the city has nothing extraordinary but the mountains in the background landscape makes it nice to watch.

Bathroom Experience
The bathroom design is one of the most unique features of the room. It uses frosted glass walls, creating a stylish and original atmosphere while still maintaining privacy.
What impressed me the most was the wooden bathtub, something I had never seen before in a hotel room. The bathroom also includes:
- A large sink area
- Rain shower
- Korean-style electronic toilet
- Hairdryer
- Complimentary comb, cotton swabs, and shower cap
Just like the air-conditioning controls, the electronic toilet buttons are written in Korean, but the hotel added a small translated guide in English nearby, which is very useful and appreciated by international travelers.
Overall, the bathroom feels luxurious, spacious, and very different from standard hotel bathrooms.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served on the lobby level and offers a very complete buffet selection. The variety is excellent, with Korean, Asian, and European options available. Guests can enjoy fresh fruits, yogurt, pastries, eggs, smoked salmon, cheese, multiple coffee selections, and much more. The breakfast buffet is clearly one of the hotel’s highlights, both in terms of quality and variety, making it easy to start the day on a very positive note.
Facilities
The hotel features excellent wellness and fitness facilities located on the third floor, including separate male and female saunas, a swimming pool, a very large fitness center with numerous treadmills, exercise machines, and bicycles, and an impressive indoor golf range. This area has its own reception and seems also open to external guests, not only to hotel guests. Some activities are free of charge for the hotel guests, while others seem to have extra charges.
On the fifth floor, is located a Chinese restaurant that I didn’t try.
Location and Surroundings
One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its location. The area is calm and convenient, especially for business travelers.
Directly next to the hotel, only about 50 meters away, is the CECO Exhibition & Convention Center, making this property extremely practical for anyone attending trade shows or professional events.
On the left side of the hotel, there is a small shopping complex called The City 7 Mall, where you can find various restaurants, Korean eateries, fast-food options such as McDonald’s, a Starbucks, and several sports and clothes stores.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon. The hotel blends comfort, convenience, and outstanding facilities in a tranquil setting near CECO.

While some aspects of the rooms show a bit of age, the comfort, cleanliness, professional staff, and high-quality amenities more than make up for it. Thoughtful touches, like English translations for the room equipment and bathroom controls, show the hotel’s dedication to international guests.
The only downside was the noise from neighboring rooms; if your neighbors are loud or keep the TV on late, it can disrupt your sleep.
If I return to Changwon for another exhibition or business trip, I would consider staying here again, thanks to its prime location and exceptional breakfast buffet.
