Where to stay?

When I planned to visit Suan Luang Rama IX Park, I chose to stay in the Suan Luang area, not too far from the surroundings of Seacon Square, and I found The Silver Palm Wellness Resort, where I booked a stay for 2 weeks.

You can take a taxi from from Hua Mak station on the Airport Express line, which will take about 10 minutes and cost approximately 100 baht. Alternatively, you can opt for the Yellow Skytrain, which is faster and more economical at 30 baht per trip per person, whether you’re heading to Seacon Square or Suan Luang Rama IX Park.

To reach Suvarnabhumi Airport, it takes about 20 minutes by taxi or Skytrain.

The Silver Palm Wellness Resort is in fact a 4-star hotel close to the intersections of the Suvarnabhumi and Rama 9 motorways which are very busy as all roads in Bangkok. You will listen to the traffic noise from the garden and the balconies, but the rooms, studios, and residences are very quiet.

There is a mosque close to the hotel; you will notice it with the call to prayer five times a day. The mosque is less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel and is open to visitors, even if you are not Muslim. Don’t hesitate to explore the small paths near the hotel. If you get lost, just ask for directions; people are very friendly and willing to guide you.
Sometimes, there are ceremonies or small night markets at the mosque, and you can hear the chanting and music from the hotel. If you decide to go, make sure to wear decent clothes, and women should cover their arms and legs.

Just in front of the hotel entrance, there are two small stores selling noodle soups and other basic groceries. However, if you stroll through the small streets around the mosque, you will discover numerous tiny hidden stores selling a variety of food and drinks.

If you prefer not to explore the small paths, then within a less than 5-minute walk, there is a small market called Rai Market, primarily open in the evening. It’s quite compact, offering only food and drinks, and it’s located near the Skytrain station.

A 15-minute walk from the hotel, passing by the railways, will lead you to a 7/11, a MaxValu supermarket, several street food vendors (with more available in the evening), and even a Subway and a McDonald’s.

I stayed in a Silver Palm Deluxe room, which I will review below, but the hotel offers 89 rooms for short- and long-term stay guests which also inlcude Studios, Superior Studios, One-Bed Residences, and Two-Bed Residences.

Inside the hotel there are a restaurant, a spa, a fitness center, a 20-meter-long swimming pool, and a steam sauna.

Only the Silver Palm Deluxe rooms are located in the main building; the Studios and Residences are in the second building, 30 meters from the reception. You just have to cross their parking lot.

All the rooms, studios, and residences have an independent air conditioning system. They all include free Wifi, a TV, a private balcony, a desk with a chair, a kettle with coffee and tea facilities, 2 daily free bottles of water, a fridge, a safe box, 2 bathrobes with slippers, and an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and shower or just a shower. There is also a set of free amenities in the bathroom.

On top of that there is a large choice of national and international cable channels.

Silver Palm Deluxe rooms:
They are the “smallest,” which are already very spacious. Some of them have a view of the swimming pool. On top of that, they’re the only rooms with a large balcony with a sofa and with shades to get more privacy.

Inside the room, there is a king-size bed and a comfortable chair with leg support. The bathroom is big enough with a big bathtub and a shower inside, a hairdryer is stored in the wardrobe.
The bathroom has a glass window facing the bedroom, but for more privacy, it is possible to draw the curtains from the bedroom. The toilet is located in the corner of the bathroom, away from the view.

Studios:
Studios are bigger than the Silver Palm Deluxe rooms but they are cheaper and located in the second building. They are available with a king-size bed or twin beds, a sofa, and a small walk-in closet. They have a small kitchen with a sink, a small induction hob, a fridge, a small dining table for 2 persons, and a small balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The modern bathroom includes a shower.

Superior Studios:
They have the same amenities as the Studios but are a bit bigger, with a bigger and L-shaped sofa, a bigger kitchen, a bigger walk-in closet, and a dining table for 4 persons. Also available with a king-size bed or twin beds.

One Bed Residence:
More spacious than the Superior Studios, the Residence is like a Suite. The Residence has the same amenities as the Superior Studios but it’s like a small apartment. The bedroom is separated from the living room and the kitchen. It’s available only with a king-size bed, and the modern bathroom includes a bathtub with a shower inside.

Two Bed Residence:
It’s the biggest Suite with its 95 m2; it’s a small apartment with a big kitchen and a dining table for 4 persons, a spacious living room with an L-shape sofa and a smart TV, and 2 bedrooms with their own TV. They are also available with king-size or twin beds.

The garden is a small oasis with its 20-meter-long swimming pool surrounded by loungers. Free towels are available at the reception.

The Silver Palm Wellness Resort

Near the swimming pool, there is a small fitness centre with free access and open 24/7 with a couple of treadmills, one bike trainer, one cross trainer, a rawer, one multi-exercise machine, a set of dumbbells, one barbell, one curl bar with a small set of weights.

The breakfast is served at the Edge Café. The breakfast is quite basic but enough. There is a daily selection of fresh vegetables and fruits, warm Asian and Western food, a few pastries, toasts, fried eggs, omelettes, coffee, tea, warm and cold milk, and juices.

If you need to check out or leave early in the morning but have already paid for your breakfast, you will get a Western breakfast box. Please ask at the reception the evening before.

You can get all kinds of drinks at the Edge Café, and I recommend their Power Drinks. Made of fresh fruits and vegetables for some of them, it changes from the common smoothies and fruit shakes you can find everywhere. You can also get snacks at the pool but also have your lunch and dinner.

There is a Wellness center that I didn’t try where they are proposing beauty and health services but they can also provide medical therapies thanks to their affiliation with the CH9 Hospital.

You may not notice it, but there is a Steam Sauna in the men’s restroom near the reception. The access is free, and there are showers as well as lockers.
